Since severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) spread from the early epicenter, Wuhan, to the rest of China, the virulence of SARS-CoV-2 might have evolved at different phases of the pandemic. We therefore compared the unique features among 62 coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) inpatients who contracted SARS-CoV-2 in Wuhan (15 cases), exposed to the patients from Wuhan (26 cases), or acquired the disease without exposure to Wuhan patients (21 cases). Median incubation periods are 4.5 days (3-5) for Wuhan patients, 8 days (3-11) for those infected by Wuhan patients, and 12 days (7-13) for those without aforementioned experience. The disease onset dates are earliest for Wuhan patients and latest for those without exposure to Wuhan patients. Blood lymphocytes were lowest in Wuhan patients, lower in those affected by Wuhan patients, and modest reduced in remaining ones. Disease severity is worst for Wuhan patients, and modest for those without contact with Wuhan patients. Wuhan patients had longest (27 days, 18-28), those transmitted by Wuhan patients had intermediate (16 days, 8-23), and the rest of the patients had shortest (13 days, 8.5-22.5) hospital stay. Early viral exposure, older age, lymphocytopenia, and underlying conditions are risk factors which warrant aggressive intervention. Even though the virulence of SARS-CoV-2 appears decline over the course of serial transmissions, viral testing, contact tracing, social distancing, and face masking should be imposed on general public to contain viral dissemination from both symptomatic and asymptomatic patients with this highly contagious disease.SABATH methyltransferases convent plant small-molecule metabolites into volatile methyl esters, which play important roles in many biological processes and defense reactions in plants. In this study, a total of 32 SABATH genes were identified in the Camellia sinensis var. sinensis (CSS) genome, which were renamed CsSABATH1 to CsSABATH32. Genome location annotation suggested that tandem duplication was responsible for the expansion of SABATH genes in tea plant. Multiple sequence alignment and phylogenetic analysis showed that the CsSABATHs could be classified into three groups (I, II and III), which were also supported by gene structures and conserved motifs analysis. Group II contained only two CsSABATH proteins, which were closely related to PtIAMT, AtIAMT and OsIAMT. The group III SABATH genes of tea plant exhibited expansion on the CSS genome compared with Camellia sinensis var. assamica (CSA) genome. Based on RNA-seq data, the CsSABATHs exhibited tissue-specific expression patterns, and the members with high expression in buds and young leaves were also obviously upregulated after MeJA treatment. The expression of many transcription factors was significantly correlated with that of different members of the CsSABATH gene family, suggesting a potential regulatory relationship between them. Quantitative real-time PCR (qPCR) expression analysis showed that CsSABATHs could respond to exogenous JA, SA and MeSA treatments in tea plants. RNA-seq data analysis and qPCR validation suggested that CsSABATH8, 11, 16, 25, 29 and 32 might play a special role in plant defense against insect herbivory. This study compares the influence of zinc doped hydroxyapatite (ZnHAp) coated, hydrothermally treated (HT) and machined Ti6Al4V (control) implants on osseointegration. The surface characterisation and microbial affinity test for implants were performed. Twenty seven (27) cylinders (3 types in each animal) were placed in the mandible of 9 black Bengal goats. Bone-implant interface was examined with histological, radiological parameters and scanning electron microscopy at 6, 12, and 24 weeks post-implantation. Surface roughness alterations of bone-separated implants were analysed by non-contact profilometer with time. The ZnHAp coated implants revealed direct and early bone-implant contact but high bacterial adherence and coating cracks. Low bacterial affinity and early strong bony integration was observed with HT implants. Poor bacterial affinity and delayed but strong fixation was evident with control implants. Based on the results of laboratory and animal experiments, we conclude that the hydrothermal modification of titanium implant is the more suitable way to achieve safe and effective osseointegration than the other two implant types for endosseous application. Family medicine providers are at the forefront of serving homeless persons. It is important to prepare family medicine residents for this responsibility during residency. In the current study, we aimed to assess the effect of a series of enrichment activities on the attitudes toward homeless persons held by residents, faculty, and staff in a rural family medicine residency program. The residency program implemented a 6-month enrichment activities series that provided various educational experiences and aimed to improve the participants' knowledge of and attitudes toward homeless persons. Participants completed 2 anonymous online surveys before and after the enrichment series (1) the Health Professional's Attitude Toward the Homeless Inventory (HPATHI) and (2) a short survey assessing the understanding of local issues that affected homeless persons. Two-tailed Student tests were used to compare the survey results. Of the 48 eligible participants, 42 (88%) completed the surveys before enrichment activities and 41 (85%) completed the surveys afterward.
