Female preponderance was observed, and the mean age at the time of onset was 38 (range 28-47) years. Evobrutinib Three patients presented with pure intraventricular hemorrhage and 4 with intraparenchymal hemorrhage. Of the 4 patients, 2 had intraventricular extension. All patients underwent EC-IC bypass and did not present with stroke during the follow-up period (median 36 [range 5-140] months). Follow-up magnetic resonance imaging revealed regression of the twiglike vessels or periventricular choroidal anastomosis within 1 year after surgery in all patients. EC-IC bypass may be a treatment option that can prevent rebleeding in patients with hemorrhagic Ap/T-MCA.EC-IC bypass may be a treatment option that can prevent rebleeding in patients with hemorrhagic Ap/T-MCA. Spinopelvic parameters have hitherto dictated much of adult spinal deformity (ASD) correction. The Roussouly classification is used for the normal adult spine. We evaluated whether a correlation would be found between the Roussouly type and the rate of revision surgery in patients with ASD undergoing circumferential minimally invasive spinal (cMIS) correction. A multicenter retrospective review of patients who had undergone cMIS surgery for ASD was performed. The inclusion criteria were age ≥18 years and 1 of the following coronal Cobb angle >20°, sagittal vertical axis >5 cm, pelvic tilt >20°, pelvic incidence (PI) to lumbar lordosis (LL) mismatch >10°, cMIS surgery, and a minimum of 2 years of follow-up data available. The patients were classified by Roussouly type, and the clinical and radiographic outcomes were evaluated. A total of 104 patients were included in the present analysis. Of the 104 patients, 41 had Roussouly type 1, 32 had type 2, 23 had type 3, and 8 had type 4. Preoperatively, the patients with type 4 had the highest PI (P=0.002) and LL (P < 0.001). Postoperatively, the PI-LL mismatch, Cobb angle, and sagittal vertical axis were not different among the 4 groups. However, the patients withtype 2 had had the highest rate of complications (type1, 29.3%; type 2, 61.3%; type 3, 34.8%; type 4, 25.0%;P=0.031). The reoperation rates were comparable (type 1, 19.5%; type 2, 38.7%; type 3, 13.0%; type 4, 12.5%;P=0.097). The reoperation rates for adjacent segment degeneration or proximal junctional kyphosis were also comparable (P= 0.204 and P= 0.060, respectively). We did not find a clear correlation between Roussouly type and the rate of revision surgery foradjacent segment disease or proximal junctional kyphosis in patients who had undergone cMIS surgery for ASD.We did not find a clear correlation between Roussouly type and the rate of revision surgery for adjacent segment disease or proximal junctional kyphosis in patients who had undergone cMIS surgery for ASD. Asymptomatic or minor symptom meningiomas (AMSMs) in the elderly are incidental findings, with no consensus reached on the optimal management strategy. In the present study, we aimed to determine the surgical risk factors for elderly patients with AMSMs using a nationwide registry database in Japan. We identified patients with surgically treated AMSMs using the Diagnosis Procedure Combination database from 2010 to 2015 and reviewed the medical records for age (<65 years; pre-elderly, 65-74 years; and elderly, ≥75 years), sex, Barthel index (BI) score, medical history, tumor location, and complications. An AMSM was defined by a BI score of 100 points at admission. The risk factors for all stroke complications, BI deterioration at discharge, and in-hospital mortality were determined using multivariate logistic regression analyses. From a total of 10,535 patients with meningioma, 6628 were included. Advanced age was a significant risk factor (odds ratio, 3.54; 95% confidence interval, 2.80-4.46) for BI patients with AMSMs, but also help in predicting the results of surgery for elderly patients with AMSMs. We sought to identify delays for surgery to stabilize unstable thoracolumbar fractures and the main reasons for them across Latin America. We reviewed the charts of 547 patients with type B or C thoracolumbar fractures from 21 spine centers across 9 Latin American countries. Data were collected on demographics, mechanism of trauma, time between hospital arrival and surgery, type of hospital (public vs. private), fracture classification, spinal level of injury, neurologic status (American Spinal Injury Association impairment scale), number of levels instrumented, and reason for delay between hospital arrival and surgical treatment. The sample included 403 men (73.6%) and 144 women (26.3%), with a mean age of 40.6 years. The main mechanism of trauma was falls (44.4%), followed by car accidents (24.5%). The most frequent pattern of injury was B2 injuries (46.6%), and the most affected level was T12-L1 (42.2%). Neurologic status at admission was 60.5% intact and 22.9% American Spinal Injury Association impan Latin America. Decompressive craniectomy (DC) relieves intracranial hypertension after severe traumatic brain injury (TBI), but it has been associated with poor clinical outcome in 2 recent randomized controlled trials. In this study, we investigated the incidence and explanatory variables for DC-related and cranioplasty (CP)-related complications after TBI. In this retrospective study, we identified 61 patients with TBI who were treated with DC in the neurointensive care unit, Uppsala University Hospital, Sweden, between 2008 and 2018. Demography, admission status, radiology, and clinical outcome were analyzed. Eleven patients (18%) were reoperated because of postoperative hemorrhage after DC. Six (10%) developed postoperative infection during neurointensive care. Twenty-eight (46%) developed subdural hygromas and 10 (16%) received a permanent cerebrospinal fluid shunt. Sixteen patients (26%) died before CP. Median time to CP was 7 months (range, 2-19 months) and 32 (71%) were operated on with autologous bone and 13 prove the outcome for these patients. Primary fourth ventricle outlet obstruction (PFVOO) is a rare cause of hydrocephalus with an unclear etiopathogenesis, and thus, consensus regarding the recommended treatment protocol is lacking. This study aims to summarize current knowledge of this condition in the light of our own treatment experience. Retrospective analysis was carried out of all patients treated for noncommunicating tetraventricular hydrocephalus between 2006 and 2019, from which a subgroup of patients with PFVOO was created. A literature review of PFVOO cases was also carried out. A total of 62 patients with PFVOO were discovered, of whom 8 were treated at our institution, representing 3.8% of our patients with noncommunicating hydrocephalus. Patients most commonly presented with headaches, gait disturbance, or symptoms of intracranial hypertension. The mean follow-up duration was 75.4 months among our patients and 29.9 months in the literature. Most patients (54.8%) were treated by endoscopic third ventriculostomy (ETV), with the remainder undergoing suboccipital craniotomy alone (17.
