Protocols that combine the use of propidium monoazide (PMA) with metagenomics or polyphasic approaches including the PMA real time PCR or flow cytometry (for the viability assessment) and the whole genome sequence analysis (for the identification and typing of the probiotic strain) are the most promising that should be standardized and used by producers and regulators. Post-chemotherapy surgery constitutes an integral part of the management of patients with non-seminomatous germ-cell tumours with a residual mass in the retroperitoneum. Published data on recurrence rates and complications to bilateral retroperitoneal lymph node dissection (RPLND), unilateral template RPLND, and resection of residual mass only according to different surgical techniques (open, laparoscopic, and robotic surgery) were reviewed. PubMed/Medline, Embase, and the Cochrane databases were searched systematically. The risk of bias was assessed with the Newcastle Ottawa Scale. In total, 28 studies were included. Eight studies reported on open surgery with the bilateral template, seven on the unilateral template, and three on resection of mass only. Median follow-up was 39, 39, and 70 months, respectively. Recurrences were found in 11, 12, and 14%, respectively. Major complications (Clavien-Dindo III or more) were observed in 18, 8, and 17%, respectively. Two studies reported on laparoscopic bilateteral template are comparable to the bilateral template. The risk of complications is highest after an open bilateral template. selleckchem Laparoscopic and robotic surgery should not be used as a standard procedure. More studies are required with larger patient populations and longer follow-up.Both Nigella sativa oil and atorvastatin possess anti-inflammatory, immunomodulatory, antioxidant, and antibacterial properties that benefit wound healing. In this work, chitosan-carboxymethyl cellulose was loaded on N. sativa oil to synthesize oil nanogel (ONG) which was later used to load with atorvastatin to obtain atorvastatin-oil nanogel (ATONG). Evaluation of the particle size of ONG and ATONG proved the average of 172 and 193 nm, and their surface charges were found to be 32.2 and 34.7 mV, respectively. Transmission electron microscopy of the sample showed that the particles had homogeneous size distributions with spherical structures. Moreover, drug loading efficiency, drug release, and stability of ATONG were investigated, and their results confirmed the appropriate loading and release of atorvastatin. Cytotoxicity evaluation demonstrated that ATONG can safely release atorvastatin intracellularly in fibroblasts. Results from in vitro skin permeation of ONG and ATONG also revealed that the nanogels (NGs) has proper flux through the skin layers. The in vitro wound closure assay for ATONG verified the proliferation and migration capabilities of fibroblasts, confirming the positive effect on wound-healing applications. In scratch model of fibroblasts, the treatment with ATONG resulted in an increase in the expression of the FGF2, TGF-β1, and VEGF genes involved in fibroblast proliferation and migration aimed at wound healing (p  less then  .001). ATONG, also demonstrated bactericidal effects against Staphylococcus, S. aureus, and S. epidermidis species. Based on the results, ONG and ATONG exhibited great potential to be used as a transdermal drug carrier and skin wound healing NG, respectively. Paracetamol has an established place in the management of mild-to-moderate pain, but has certain limitations, including varying bioavailability, and potential hepatotoxicity if taken in overdose. Effervescent formulations may help to overcome these limitations. Pubmed searches, with no limits on date or language, were conducted in February 2020. Further references were identified from the reference lists of retrieved articles, and from the authors' knowledge of the field. Effervescent formulations contain an organic acid (usually citric acid) and carbonate or bicarbonate salts (usually sodium bicarbonate). Upon contact with water, these react to form carbon dioxide, which facilitates the disintegration of the tablet and dissolution of the active drug. Moreover, sodium bicarbonate dose-dependently increases gastric emptying, which together with rapid dissolution facilitates drug absorption. In pharmacokinetic studies, effervescent formulations result in faster absorption of paracetamol than conventional oral formulations, and this translates into a faster onset of analgesia in clinical trials. Effervescent paracetamol has a favorable safety profile, with good tolerability. Importantly, the sodium content of some preparations does not appear to increase cardiovascular risk under real world conditions. Effervescent formulations may also offer advantages in terms of ease of administration and palatability. Effervescent formulations of paracetamol result in faster drug absorption, and hence more rapid analgesia, than oral tablets, and offer a favorable tolerability and safety profile. The use of such formulations may therefore help to promote appropriate use of paracetamol.Effervescent formulations of paracetamol result in faster drug absorption, and hence more rapid analgesia, than oral tablets, and offer a favorable tolerability and safety profile. The present study is a continuation of the ongoing research into the taxonomic diversity of the stocks of Gymnotus sold as live bait in the Pantanal, Brazil. These studies have been based on cytogenetic analyses, DNA barcoding, and the analysis of coloration patterns. The results of the cytogenetic analysis confirmed the presence of three distinct strains, recognized as Gymnotus paraguensis, G. sylvius, and G. pantanal. However, the results revealed that the molecular operational taxonomic units identified as G. paraguensis actually include a relatively diverse set of fish, separated by considerable genetic distances. As the G. paraguensis specimens also presented considerable variation in coloration patterns, further genetic diversity analyses were conducted on these individuals, to test the hypothesis that more than one species is present in this cytotaxonomic unit.
