During the COVID-19 pandemic, there has been a rapid increase in the amount of information about the disease and SARS-CoV-2 on the internet. If the language used in video messages is not clear or understandable to deaf and hard of hearing (DHH) people with a high school degree or less, this can cause confusion and result in information gaps among DHH people during a health emergency. The aim of this study is to investigate the relationship between DHH people's perception of the effectiveness of physical distancing and contagiousness of an asymptomatic person. This is a cross-sectional survey study on DHH people's perceptions about COVID-19 (N=475). Items pertaining to COVID-19 knowledge were administered to US deaf adults from April 17, 2020, to May 1, 2020, via a bilingual American Sign Language/English online survey platform. The sample consisted of 475 DHH adults aged 18-88 years old, with 74% (n=352) identifying as White and 54% (n=256) as female. About 88% (n=418) of the sample felt they knew most things or a lot about physical distancing. This figure dropped to 72% (n=342) for the question about the effectiveness of physical distancing in reducing the spread of COVID-19 and 70% (n=333) for the question about the contagiousness of an infected person without symptoms. Education and a knowledge of the effectiveness of physical distancing significantly predicted knowledge about the contagiousness of an asymptomatic individual. see more Race, gender, and age did not emerge as significant predictors. This results of this study point to the strong connection between education and coronavirus-related knowledge. Education-related disparities can be remedied by making information fully accessible and easily understood during emergencies and pandemics. This results of this study point to the strong connection between education and coronavirus-related knowledge. Automated lung infections classification using chest X-ray (CXR) images could strengthen diagnostic capability when handling COVID-19. However, classifying COVID-19 from pneumonia cases using CXR image is a difficult task because of shared spatial characteristics, high feature variation and contrast diversity between cases. Moreover, massive data collection is impractical for a newly emerged disease, which limited the performance of data thirsty deep learning models. To address these challenges, Multiscale Attention Guided deep network with Soft Distance regularization (MAG-SD) is proposed to automatically classify COVID-19 from pneumonia CXR images. In MAG-SD, MA-Net is used to produce prediction vector and attention from multiscale feature maps. To improve the robustness of trained model and relieve the shortage of training data, attention guided augmentations along with a soft distance regularization are posed, which aims at generating meaningful augmentations and reduce noise. Our multiscale attention model achieves better classification performance on our pneumonia CXR image dataset. Plentiful experiments are proposed for MAG-SD which demonstrates its unique advantage in pneumonia classification over cutting-edge models. The code is available at https//github.com/JasonLeeGHub/MAG-SD.Eye blink is one of the most common artifacts in electroencephalogram (EEG) and significantly affects the performance of the EEG related applications, such as epilepsy recognition, spike detection, encephalitis diagnosis, etc. To achieve an accurate and efficient eye blink detection, a novel unsupervised learning algorithm based on a hybrid thresholding followed with a Gaussian mixture model (GMM) is presented in this paper. The EEG signal is priliminarily screened by a cascaded thresholding method built on the distributions of signal amplitude, amplitude displacement, as well as the cross channel correlation. Then, the channel correlation of the two frontal electrodes (FP1, FP2), the fractal dimension, and the mean of amplitude difference between FP1 and FP2, are extracted to characterize the filtered EEGs. The GMM trained on these features is applied for the eye blink detection. The performance of the proposed algorithm is studied on two EEG datasets collected by the Temple University Hospital (TUH) and the Children's Hospital, Zhejiang University School of Medicine (CHZU), where the datasets are recorded from epilepsy and encephalitis patients, and contain a lot of eye blink artifacts. Experimental results show that the proposed algorithm can achieve the highest detection precision and F1 score over the state-of-the-art methods. In this article, the underwater target tracking control problem of a biomimetic underwater vehicle (BUV) is addressed. Since it is difficult to build an effective mathematic model of a BUV due to the uncertainty of hydrodynamics, target tracking control is converted into the Markov decision process and is further achieved via deep reinforcement learning. The system state and reward function of underwater target tracking control are described. Based on the actor-critic reinforcement learning framework, the deep deterministic policy gradient actor-critic algorithm with supervision controller is proposed. The training tricks, including prioritized experience replay, actor network indirect supervision training, target network updating with different periods, and expansion of exploration space by applying random noise, are presented. Indirect supervision training is designed to address the issues of low stability and slow convergence of reinforcement learning in the continuous state and action space. Comparative simulations are performed to show the effectiveness of the training tricks. Finally, the proposed actor-critic reinforcement learning algorithm with supervision controller is applied to the physical BUV. Swimming pool experiments of underwater object tracking of the BUV are conducted in multiple scenarios to verify the effectiveness and robustness of the proposed method.
