In order to promote women's health and support use of effective contraception methods, a large reduction in FGM practice is essential. In order to promote women's health and support use of effective contraception methods, a large reduction in FGM practice is essential.Slow gait speed and restricted life-space mobility predict cognitive decline and dementia in healthy older adults, yet the relation between gait speed or life-space mobility and cognitive function remains poorly understood in patients with coronary artery disease (CAD). We, therefore, examined the following relations that between gait speed and cognitive function, and mild cognitive impairment (MCI) and that between life-space mobility and cognitive function, and MCI. We conducted a cross-sectional study of 240 non-dementia patients who met the study criteria from 2132 consecutive CAD patients. MCI was estimated with the Japanese version of the Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA-J). Gait speed was measured to perform gait trials at the patients' usual walking pace, and life-space mobility was evaluated using the Life-Space Assessment (LSA). We investigated the relation between gait speed or life-space mobility and cognitive function by Pearson correlation analysis, whereas multivariable logistic regression analysis was conducted for detecting MCI. Gait speed and LSA scores were positively associated with the MoCA-J score (r = 0.54, p  less then  0.001 and r = 0.44, p  less then  0.001, respectively), and both were independently associated with MCI in the multivariable logistic regression analysis (odds ratio 0.007, p  less then  0.001, and odds ratio 0.98, p = 0.038, respectively). Cognitive impairment can be easily detected by assessment of gait speed and life-space mobility. Interventions to improve gait speed and life-space mobility may lead to the improvement of cognitive function and MCI in patients with CAD.Social anxiety disorder (SAD) is commonly comorbid with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). Here, in a sample of 86 children and adolescents (MAGE = 12.62 years; 68.6% male), 28 of whom were diagnosed with ASD, 34 with SAD, and 24 with comorbid ASD and SAD, we compared parent-reported scores from the Social Responsiveness Scale-Second Edition (SRS-2; Constantino and Gruber in Social Responsiveness Scale (SRS; Constantino and Gruber 2012) to determine the sensitivity and specificity of the measure in cases of differential diagnosis between SAD and ASD. Results suggest that neither the subscales, nor the SRS-2 total score, consistently differed between ASD and SAD. Sensitivity and specificity analyses suggested that the SRS-2 total poorly discriminated ASD from SAD. When screening socially anxious youth for possible ASD, caution should be taken.Cardiovascular diseases (CVD) are the leading cause of mortality. However, by treating modifiable cardiovascular risk factors and following a healthy diet as the Mediterranean diet, we have opportunity to prevent CVD. In the EWHETA (Eat Well for a HEalthy Third Age) Project, our goal has been to develop novel foods ("Mediterranean Lasagne", MLs) in versions all nutritionally complete and well balanced in terms of calories, whole carbohydrates, fibers, source of vegetable proteins, and vegetable fats. MLs can be easy prepared at home (inexpensively) and used as fresh food or can be pre-prepared and used in residences for elderly people or in health care residencies. The project has saw the alliance between nutritionists and food and sensor scientists and the active involvement of older people in tasting the novel foods to achieve the final tasty versions of the MLs. We think that the nutritional components of these novel foods and its well-accepted taste, insert in a healthy diet and life style (fundamental aspects at every age), and could contribute to improve diet in the elderly people and prevent malnutrition. Small and remote acute ischemic lesions may occur in up to one-third of patients with spontaneous intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH). Possible mechanisms include cerebral embolism, small vessel disease, blood pressure variability and others. The embolic mechanism has not been adequately studied. Using transcranial Doppler (TCD), we assessed the incidence of spontaneous microembolic signals (MESs) in patients with acute ICH. Twenty acute ICH patients were prospectively evaluated within 48h of hospital admission. Clinical and imaging data were collected. Continuous TCD monitoring was performed in both middle cerebral arteries for a one-hour period on days 1, 3 and 7 of hospital admission. Monitoring was performed in the emergency room, ICU or ward, according to patient location. We compared the frequency and risk factors for MES in patients with ICH and in 20 age- and gender-matched controls without history of ischemic or hemorrhagic stroke. The mean age was 57.5 ± 14.1years, and 60% were male. MESs were detected in 7 patients with ICH and in one control patient without ICH (35% vs 5%, p = 0.048). The frequency of MES on day 1 was 15% (3 of 20 patients), on day 3, 26% (5 of 19 patients) and on day 7, 37.5% (3 of 8 patients). Among patients with ICH, those with MES had a tendency to higher frequencies of dyslipidemia (83% vs 33%, p = 0.13) and lobar location of hemorrhages (71% vs 30%, p = 0.15). Two out of 6 patients with ICH who also underwent MRI had remote DWI lesions, of whom one showed MES on TCD. Micro-embolic signals occur in over one-third of patients with ICH. click here Further research is needed to identify the sources of cerebral microembolism and their relationship with small acute infarcts in ICH.Micro-embolic signals occur in over one-third of patients with ICH. Many COVID-19 patients with neurological manifestations and respiratory failure remain dependent on mechanical ventilation and require tracheostomy, which is an aerosol generating procedure (AGP). The risk of SARS-CoV-2 transmission to healthcare staff during AGPs is well documented, and negative-pressure rooms are often unavailable. Innovative techniques to decrease risk to healthcare providers during AGPs are necessary. Our objective was to demonstrate the feasibility of percutaneous dilatational tracheostomy (PDT) performed using a novel prefabricated low-cost negative-pressure tent (AerosolVE). Retrospective review of consecutive PDT procedures performed by neurointensivists on intubated adult patients with COVID-19 using the AerosolVE tent during the pandemic under an innovative clinical care protocol. The AerosolVE negative-pressure tent consists of a clear plastic canopy with slits for hand access attached to a U-shaped base with air vents. Air within the tent is drawn through a high-efficiency particulate air filter and released outside.
