0. Cr(Ш) loaded adsorbent could be regenerated easily in HCl solution and the regenerated adsorbent still exhibited high adsorption capacity for Cr(III). 10058-F4 purchase XPS analysis confirmed that the enhanced Cr(III) adsorption on EDTA-ATP was ascribed to form the stable complexes between Cr(III) and surface-bound carboxyl and amino groups of the adsorbents. Wastewater from households wastewater treatment plants (HWWTP) is discharged to the ground or to the surface waters. Special consideration should be given to the improvement of HWWTP effectiveness, particularly in relation to nutrients. The addition of biodegradable carbon sources to biofilm reactor, can enhance microbial activity but may also lead to filling clogging. The study aimed to compare 3 different organic substrates acetic acid (commonly applied)and two untypical - citric acid and waste beer, under the same operational conditions in a post-denitrification biofilm reactor. The study investigated the impact of a type of organic substrate, low pH and time on (1) biofilm growth, (2) the characteristics of extracellular polymeric substances (EPS), (3) the kinetics of nutrients removal and (4) reactor clogging. Results were referred to (5) the effectiveness of nutrients removal. The study demonstrated that low pH assured the development of a thinbiofilm. Citric acid ensured the lowest biomass volume, being by 53% lower than in the reactor with acetic acid and by as much as 61% lower than in the reactor with waste beer. The soluble EPS fraction prevailed in the total EPS in all reactors. The content of the tightly bound EPS fraction ranged from 26.93% (citric acid) to 36.32% (waste beer). Investigations showed also a high ratio of exoproteins to polysaccharide in all fractions, which indicated a significant role of proteins in developing a highly-proliferating biofilm. The treated wastewater met requirements of Polish regulations concerning COD and nitrogen concentrations. This study investigated the microplastic (MP) contamination of seawater and fishes from different habitats so as to understand the level of human exposure to microplastics. Samples of Harpodon nehereus, Chirocentrus dorab, Sardinella albella, Rastrelliger kanagurta, Katsuwonus pelamis and Istiophorus platypterus were collected from Tuticorin, southeast coast of India. The MPs in seawater and the gastrointestinal tracts of fish were identified using Stereomicroscope and characterized by FTIR and SEM-EDAX analysis. The abundance of MPs varied from 3.1 ± 2.3 to 23.7 ± 4.2 items L-1 in water, from 0.11 ± 0.06 to 3.64 ± 1.7 items/individual, and from 0.0002 ± 0.0001 to 0.2 ± 0.03 items/g gut weight. The epipelagic fishes had higher levels of MP contamination than the mesopelagic ones. Most of the MPs identified were of blue color, of fiber type and with their size less then 500 μm. Polyethylene was the most commonly detected MP, followed by polyester and polyamide, and this fact could be attributed to the inflow of domestic sewage and to the intensive fisheries activities in the area. SEM-EDAX spectra revealed the weathered MP surfaces which could adsorb/leach inorganic elements (colorants and fillers) from/to the environment. We may conclude that the concentration of MPs in fishes is a function of the concentration of MPs in their environment. Whether or not the carbon tax is conducive to alleviating the pressure on employment reduction in coal resource-based areas is a subject worthy of in-depth study. We take the province of Shanxi, a typical coal resource-based area in China, as an example, and use the dynamic computable general equilibrium (CGE) model to simulate the impact of carbon tax on employment under various carbon tax revenue recycling schemes. We disaggregate the employment effect into demand effect, cost effect, factor-shift effect, and investment-pull effect to analyze the transmission path of the influence of carbon tax on employment. The results show that the carbon tax is conducive to alleviating the pressures on employment reduction in coal resource-based areas. Compared with the scenario of no carbon tax revenue recycling, the pressures on employment reduction under the scenario where carbon tax is returned to residents or enterprises in different forms, are allayed. More into detail, carbon tax has the least inhibiting effect on industry employment in case that tax revenue is returned to residents in the form of transfer payment. In addition, there is a prominent difference in the transmission path through which the carbon tax promotes employment, that is, the single effect, or the combination of demand effect, cost effect, factor-shift effect, and investment-pull effect. However, the carbon tax would obstruct employment principally through the demand effect. An epidemiological characterization of human and feline sporotrichosis was carried out between 2016 and 2018, in a high density-populated area in Brazil. Professionals were trained to identify suspect cats and notify vets to interview the owners and collect swabs of the wounds from these animals. Mycological cultures were performed, and colonies identified as Sporothrix spp. Subsequently, data regarding the outcome from suspect animals were collected. Confirmed cases of human sporotrichosis (56) were also counted and analyzed for spatial distribution. 118 positive animals were observed. The prevalence of feline sporotrichosis was 8.36 ‰ (CI 95 %, 5.38-9.55 ‰). The odds for being positive in animals that lived only partially at home were 3.02 times greater than for those cats without access to the street (OR 3.02, CI 95 % 1,96-10,43). There was no statistically significant association between environmental variables and positive diagnosis, corroborating the hypothesis that direct transmission by infected cats blic health, followed by the guidance and care for the human patient. Diseases that affect cattle represent obstacles to the development of livestock activity. Brucellosis is a significant such disease because it is transmissible, has a chronic nature, and causes health and economic damages to the herd and rural producer. Data from surveys performed in 2002 and 2014 were compared to identify the spatial distribution of bovine brucellosis and to evaluate clusters of outbreaks and areas of greater risk to have infected cattle in the state of Mato Grosso, Brazil. The present study analyzed the data obtained in the aforementioned investigations with a statistical model based on a spatial point process called a generalized additive model (GAM). The analysis made it possible to identify the regions of highest and lowest risk in the state of Mato Grosso. Of the 1001 properties analyzed in 2002, 198 were in areas with high-odds ratio, and 121 were in a low-odds ratio area. Of the 1248 properties sampled in 2014, 119 were in a high-odds ratio area, and 162 were in a low-odds ratio area.
