Alcohols could be the biggest factor for the improvement of world biofuel economy in the present century due to their excellent properties compared to petroleum products. The primary concerns of sustainable alcohol production for meeting the growing energy demand owing to the selection of viable feedstock and this might enhance the opportunities for developing numerous advanced techniques. In this review, the valorization of alcohol production from several production routes has been exposed by covering the traditional routes to the present state of the art technologies. Even though the fossil fuel conversion could be dominant method for methanol production, many recent innovations like photo electrochemical synthesis and electrolysis methods might play vital role in production of renewable methanol in future. There have been several production routes for production of ethanol and among which the fermentation of lignocellulose biomass would be the ultimate choice for large scale shoot up. The greenhouse gas recovery in the form of alcohols through electrochemistry technique and hydrogenation method are the important methods for commercialization of alcohols in future. It is also observed that algae based renewable bio-alcohols is highly influenced by carbohydrate content and sustainable approaches in algae conversion to bio-alcohols would bring greater demand in future market. There is a lack of innovation in higher alcohols production in single process and this could be bounded by combining dehydrogenation and decarboxylation techniques. Finally, this review enlists the opportunities and challenges of existing alcohols production and recommended the possible routes for making significant enhancement in production.Global solid waste is expected to increase by at least 70% annually until year 2050. The mixture of solid waste including food waste from food industry and domestic diaper waste in landfills is causing environmental and human health issues. Nevertheless, food and diaper waste containing high lignocellulose can easily degrade using lignocellulolytic enzymes thereby converted into energy for the development and growth of mushroom. Therefore, this study explores the potential of recycling biomass waste from coffee ground, banana, eggshell, tea waste, sugarcane bagasse and sawdust and diaper waste as raw material for Lingzhi mushroom (Ganoderma lucidum) cultivation. Using 2% of diaper core with sawdust biowaste leading to the fastest 100% mushroom mycelium spreading completed in one month. The highest production yield is 71.45 g mushroom; this represents about 36% production biological efficiency compared to only 21% as in commercial substrate. The high mushroom substrate reduction of 73% reflect the valorisation of landfill waste. The metabolomics profiling showed that the Lingzhi mushroom produced is of high quality with a high content of triterpene being the bioactive compounds that are medically important for treating assorted disease and used as health supplement. In conclusion, our study proposed a potential resource management towards zero-waste and circular bioeconomy for high profitable mushroom cultivation.Heavy metal ions in chelated forms have aroused great concerns because of their high solubility, poor biodegradation and extreme stability. In this research, an efficient strategy, interior microelectrolysis-Fenton-recycle ferrite (IM-Fenton-RF), was developed to treat simulated electroplating wastewater containing chelated copper at room temperature. The decomplexation of chelated copper was carried out by both interior microelectrolysis and Fenton reactions. IM process can not only partly degrade the complexes of chelated copper via the microelectrolysis reaction but also it produces Fe2+ ions for the Fenton reaction. Foscenvivint order After decomplexation, the IM-Fenton effluent directly flowed into the RF reactor for copper ions removal. Under optimum reaction conditions (reflux ratio = 0.37, Fe2+ concentration = 9.20 g/L at pH 10.18), 99.9% copper was removed by the IM-Fenton-RF system. The produced IM-Fenton-RF sludge is based on ferrite precipitate and has several advantages over metal hydroxides sludge. Ferrite sludge is stable owing to the stability of ferrite's crystal structure, while the toxicity characteristic leaching procedure (TCLP) test meets relevant standards. The sedimentation rate and volume of ferrite sludge were 3.86 times faster and 11.0 times lower than those of metal hydroxides sludge. Furthermore, the yielding sludge of ferrite can be recovered and utilized for the synthesis of Fe-C metallic species, the main compound of IM packing for interior microelectrolysis reaction. All these results show that a combination of IM-Fenton and RF is an effective approach to treat wastewater containing chelated copper, showing great potential for industrial applications. The health effects of air pollution on heart failure (HF) patients have not been adequately studied. We assessed the associations between long-term air pollution exposure and prognosis in HF patients. HF patients were prospectively recruited from 52 hospitals throughout China between August 2016 and May 2018. The participants were followed up for 12 months after discharge from index hospitalization. Long-term air pollution was calculated as annual average level of air pollution before the date of the index hospitalization. Outcomes were defined as HF readmission, cardiovascular death, and composite events. Cox proportional hazards model was applied to quantify the associations between air pollution exposure and clinical outcomes. Of 4866 patients included in the analysis, mean age was 65.2±13.5 years, and 62.5% were male. During 1-year follow-up, 1577 (32.4%) participants were readmitted for HF and 550 (11.3%) died from cardiovascular disease. Though no associations between long-term air pollution andand those living in South China should particularly enhance their personal protection against air pollution.Among HF patients who were older, living in South China, more HF readmissions occurred with higher long-term air pollution exposure. The findings suggest that the elderly patients and those living in South China should particularly enhance their personal protection against air pollution.
