In phases III and IV of Cs3H(SeO4)2, the vibrational state and intrabond transfer of the proton in the dimeric selenates are systematically studied with a wide range of absorbance spectra, a spin-lattice relaxation rate of 1H-NMR (T1 -1), and DFT calculations. The OH stretching vibrations have extremely broad absorption at around 2350 (B band) and 3050 cm-1 (A band), which originate from the 0-1 and 0-2 transitions in the asymmetric double minimum potential, respectively. The anharmonic-coupling calculation makes clear that the A band couples not only to the libration but also to the OH bending band. The vibrational state (nano-second order) is observed as the response of the proton basically localized in either of the two equivalent sites. The intrabond transfer between those sites (pico-second order) yields the protonic fluctuation reflected in T1 -1. Together with the anomalous absorption [νp2 phonon, libration, tetrahedral deformation (δ440), and 610-cm-1 band], we have demonstrated that the intrabond transfer above 70 K is dominated by the thermal hopping that is collectively excited at 610 cm-1 and the phonon-assisted proton tunneling (PAPT) relevant to the tetrahedral deformation [PAPT(def)]. Below 70 K, T1 -1 is largely enhanced toward the antiferroelectric ordering and the distinct splitting emerges in the libration, which dynamically modulates the O(2)-O'(2) distance of the dimer. The PAPT(lib) associated with the libration is confirmed to be a driving force of the AF ordering. We present a new scheme for diabatizing electronic potential energy surfaces for use within the recently implemented direct-dynamics grid-based class of computational nuclear quantum dynamics methods, called Procrustes diabatization. Calculations on the well-studied molecular systems LiF and the butatriene cation, using both Procrustes diabatization and the previously implemented propagation and projection diabatization schemes, have allowed detailed comparisons to be made, which indicate that the new method combines the best features of the older approaches; it generates smooth surfaces, which cross at the correct molecular geometries, reproduces interstate couplings accurately, and hence allows the correct modeling of non-adiabatic dynamics.Nonuniform density scaling in the quasi-two-dimensional (quasi-2D) regime is an important and challenging aspect of the density functional theory. Semilocal exchange-correlation energy functionals, developed by solving the dimensional crossover criterion in the quasi-2D regime, have great theoretical and practical importance. However, the only semilocal generalized gradient approximation (GGA) that has been designed to satisfy this criterion is the Q2D-GGA [L. Chiodo et al., Phys. Rev. Lett. 108, 126402 (2012)]. Here, we establish the applicability, broadness, and accuracy of the Q2D-GGA functional by performing an extensive assessment of this functional for transition metal surface energies. The important characteristic of the surface density localization and oscillation due to the rearrangement of the d electrons is also shown for different metal surfaces. The second hyperpolarizability (γ) of the H2 molecule was measured by gas-phase electric field induced second harmonic generation at the frequencies of the one-photon resonance for the 3-0 Q(J) overtone transitions (v, J = 0, J → 3, J for J = 0, 1, 2, and 3). The magnitude of the resonant contribution to γ was measured with 2% accuracy using the previously determined non-resonant γ for calibration. Pressure broadening and frequency shift for the transitions were also measured. A theoretical expression for the resonant vibrational γ contribution in terms of transition polarizabilities is compared to the observations. The measured γ resonance strength is 4%-14% larger than the results obtained from this theoretical expression evaluated using ab initio transition polarizabilities. An efficient and trajectory-free active learning method is proposed to automatically sample data points for constructing globally accurate reactive potential energy surfaces (PESs) using neural networks (NNs). Although NNs do not provide the predictive variance as the Gaussian process regression does, we can alternatively minimize the negative of the squared difference surface (NSDS) given by two different NN models to actively locate the point where the PES is least confident. A batch of points in the minima of this NSDS can be iteratively added into the training set to improve the PES. The configuration space is gradually and globally covered without the need to run classical trajectory (or equivalently molecular dynamics) simulations. Through refitting the available analytical PESs of H3 and OH3 reactive systems, we demonstrate the efficiency and robustness of this new strategy, which enables fast convergence of the reactive PESs with respect to the number of points in terms of quantum scattering probabilities.Graphene-based composites are widely used in the photocatalytic treatment of heavy-metal ions or dyes. In this study, we developed a facile in situ precipitation method for preparing a non-peripheral octamethyl-substituted cobalt(II)phthalocyanine (N-CoMe2Pc)/reduced graphene oxide (rGO) nanocomposite as an efficient photocatalyst. The physical and chemical properties of the nanocomposite were investigated by scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, x-ray diffraction, and ultraviolet-visible, ultraviolet photoelectron, Fourier-transform infrared, Raman, and x-ray photoelectron spectroscopies. The results showed that the N-CoMe2Pc nanoparticles were immobilized on rGO nanosheets via π-π stacking interactions. The photocatalytic activity of the nanocomposite in the reduction of hexavalent chromium [Cr(VI), 10 mg/l] under visible-light irradiation was investigated. The Cr(VI) removal ratio reached 99.5% with a high photocatalytic rate of 0.0359 min-1, which is ten times faster than that achieved with pristine N-CoMe2Pc. The high removal efficiency is attributed to the following (1) the number of active sites provided by nanodot-like N-CoMe2Pc is larger than that provided by bulk Pc, which can increase the production of photogenerated carriers, and (2) enhanced charge carrier separation resulting from intimate contact between N-CoMe2Pc nanodots and GO nanosheets. The N-CoMe2Pc/rGO also showed excellent stability and reusability. PF-07265807 purchase The Cr(VI) removal efficiency was 93.2% after eight photocatalytic test cycles.
