In this work, a hybrid of multiwalled carbon nanotubes, nanogold, and reduced graphene (rGO/AuNPs/MWCNTs) was synthesized rapidly with an easy method, and then combined with chitosan (CS), which was fixed on a glassy carbon electrode (GCE) to construct a new kind of electrochemical sensor to simultaneously determine 4-aminophenol (4-AP) and acetaminophen (AC). When detecting 4-AP and AC simultaneously, the linear range is 0.12~12 μM for acetaminophen and 0.05~25 μM for 4-aminophenol; the detection limit is 42 nM for acetaminophen and 2.95 nM for 4-aminophenol. Compared with previously related reports, the proposed sensor has an excellent electrocatalytic performance for the redox of 4-AP and AC, which can effectively determine 4-AP and AC simultaneously in actual samples and has potential application prospect. Graphical abstract.The application of the dye-labeled fluorescence method in a ligand-RNA interaction assay is a complex and costly process prone to steric hindrance. Fluorescent nanomaterials offer an attractive alternative due to their simple, low-cost synthesis and effective screening properties. Here, CdTe@ZIF-8 core-shell nanocomposites were used as fluorescence signal transducer in the ligand-TAR RNA interaction assay. Different experimental strategies were developed based on the size-selective nature of the CdTe@ZIF-8 nanocomposites. When ligands can quench fluorescence, two assays of fluorescence recovery with TAR RNA and Tat peptide competitive displacement are carried out successively, which can not only distinguish ligands binding to TAR RNA but also screen potential Tat protein antagonists. When ligands cannot quench fluorescence, the mitoxantrone-TAR RNA complex is used in the competitive displacement assay. Ligands that displaced mitoxantrone from the mitoxantrone-TAR RNA complex signaled the interaction with TAR RNA. Eight ligands, including known and unknown TAR RNA-binding ligands, were tested via the above strategies. The results showed that this method was effective at distinguishing the known RNA-binding partner and screening the Tat antagonist from the test ligands. This simple and effective strategy is expected to be suitable for actual drug screening. Graphical abstract. The transoral endoscopic thyroidectomy vestibular approach (TOETVA) is a scarless remote-access thyroidectomy technique. This study compared subjective and objective voice outcomes and swallowing outcomes of patients who underwent thyroid lobectomy using the TOETVA versus conventional open thyroidectomy (OT). In addition to questionnaires, acoustic and aerodynamic analyses were performed to compare subjective and objective voice outcomes of the two groups. Propensity score matching was performed to compare the outcomes of the two groups. One hundred and two patients were included in this study (52 TOETVA and 50 OT). Excluding two patients who had vocal cord palsy and open conversion in the TOETVA group, 100 patients completed 3-month postoperative surveys. There were no significant differences between the groups in VAS, GRBAS, or VHI-10 scores at the preoperative and 3- and 6-month assessments. For both groups, there were no significant changes in acoustic or aerodynamic parameters during the 3-6-month postoperative period. The TOETVA group had lower SIS-6 scores at the postoperative 6-month assessment, but the SIS-6 scores after 12months were similar between groups before and after propensity score matching. Following TOETVA lobectomy, there were no significant changes in voice outcomes 3 and 6months after surgery, and the outcomes were comparable with those of OT. Using circular stapled (CS) technique effectively reduces the incidence of anastomotic leakage and shortens the operating time; however, anastomotic stricture has been reported to be more common. The present study was performed to compare the clinical outcomes of the recently developed totally mechanical Collard (TMC) and CS anastomosis. We retrospectively reviewed consecutive esophageal cancer cases who are undergoing transthoracic extended esophagectomy with gastric conduit reconstruction using cervical CS or TMC anastomosis from December 2013 to December 2016. Propensity score matching and multivariate regression were used to adjust for differences in baseline characteristics. Among 313 patients, 93 underwent CS anastomosis and 220 underwent TMC anastomosis. Stricture formation occurred in 59 patients (18.8%), significantly more often with the CS than TMC anastomosis (30.1% vs. 14.1%, p = 0.001). No significant differences were observed in the refractory stricture rate (9.7% vs. 5.0%, p = 0.134) or the anastomotic leakage rate (11.8% vs. 10.9%, p = 0.845) between the two groups. The propensity score matching cohort study including 86 pairs of patients confirmed a significantly lower stricture formation rate with the TMC than CS technique (27.9% vs. 14.0%, p = 0.038). In the multivariable analysis, anastomotic leakage, the CS technique, and a body mass index of ≥25mg/m were independently associated with a risk of stricture formation. An increased operative time (OT) has been associated with a higher rate of adverse outcomes after several surgical procedures although scarce evidence exists for infrainguinal bypass surgery (IBS) and its impact beyond the postoperative period. The aim of this study was to define surgical characteristics related to a prolonged OT in IBS for chronic limb threatening ischemia and its influence on postoperative and 1-year outcomes. Retrospective study of 249 consecutive patients (mean age 72.4years, 73.1% male) undergoing IBS for CLI between 2008 and 2018. The characteristics related to the duration of surgery and its impact on outcome were assessed with a multiple linear regression and a multivariate logistic regression, respectively. Interventions associated with a prolonged OT included the bypass to a below-the-knee artery (additional 36min, p = 0.002), the need for an alternative vein or a hybrid PTFE-vein graft (additional 37min, p = 0.02) and inflow associated procedures (additional 47min, p < 0.001).
