Feminizing gender-affirming surgery (GAS) has been an increasingly used procedure in the United States and worldwide for transgender women with gender dysphoria. Studies on patient-reported quality of life outcomes in those undergoing GAS remain limited. To provide recent insights from the literature on sexual metrics in the evaluation of the transgender women. We queried PubMed to identify studies assessing sexual function metrics in those undergoing feminizing GAS. There is no single validated method to establish preoperative and postoperative sexual function. Assessment currently remains institutionally dependent. Evaluation can involve questionnaires including but not limited to the International Index of Erectile Function, the Female Sexual Function Index, and the Male to Female Sexual Function Index. In this literature review, we discuss considerations for the evaluation of sexual function for patients considering feminizing GAS with vaginoplasty. Although we describe some of the major tools currently used in evaluating sexual function in this patient population, a need for a validated method remains. Syed JS, Honig S. Competency frameworks for education, training and development are widely used in the health professions, including pharmacy. Published studies suggest that competency frameworks have an impact on professional performance. Professional performance that is consistent with up-to-date knowledge and skills influences health care quality and patient safety. This review assessed the effectiveness of competency frameworks in facilitating improvement in pharmacists' performance. PubMed/Medline, CINAHL, Embase, ERIC, PsycINFO and Scopus electronic databases were searched to identify relevant literature. The findings of the included studies were synthesised qualitatively, and via a meta-analysis. The meta-analysis evaluated the odds of improved competency behaviour as a proxy measure of impact on pharmacists' performance. MPP+ iodide research buy Study quality was assessed using 12 criteria adapted from the EPPI-Centre guidelines v0.9.7. The protocol for this review is registered on PROSPERO with reference number CRD42018096580. In total, est competency frameworks facilitate improvement in pharmacists' performance; however, further evaluative studies are needed. These findings suggest competency frameworks facilitate improvement in pharmacists' performance; however, further evaluative studies are needed. Medication adherence for chronic conditions continues to be a challenge for patients. Patient incentives for medication adherence may help. Financial incentives delivered at the point of care may act as cues for medication-taking behavior. The purpose of this study was to investigate patient preferences for specific structures of financial medication adherence incentives that could feasibly be delivered at the point of care. A discrete choice experiment (DCE) was performed using a national online survey. Study participants were adults who self-reported taking at least one prescription medication for one or more chronic conditions. Following an orthogonal design generated in SAS, the DCE included 32 paired-choice tasks. Data were analyzed using mixed logit models and stratified on participants' income level. In the full cohort (n=933), form of financial reward (such as gift-card or cash) was 1.02 times as important to participants as the probability of incentive receipt, 1.58 times as important as monepreferences for financial medication adherence incentives delivered at the point of care may be most heavily influenced by incentive form and probability of receipt. This has implications for designing medication adherence programs in terms of incentive sustainability, patient engagement, plan star ratings, and patient outcomes.Currently, there is no specific antiviral treatment for COVID-19. However, drugs previously developed to treat other viral infections are being tested to verify if they might also be effective against SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19. Twenty years ago, the F.D.A. approved Lopinavir/ritonavir (LPV/r) to treat HIV infection. LPV and ritonavir were initially purposed to inhibit 3-chymotrypsin-like protease (3CLpro) of SARS-CoV and MERS-CoV and preliminary promising data on its efficacy for treating people infected with those viruses were available. Therefore, due to the high genetic similarities among those viruses and SARS-CoV-2, early during COVID-19 pandemic LPV/r was also proposed as one emergency treatment. We reviewed data from the literature about LPV/r treatment and SARS-CoV-2 infection, mainly focused on the efficacy and safety of this drugs for COVID-19 treatment. We can conclude that although up to date no clear benefit has been observed with the LPV/r treatment beyond standard care, its efficacy against SARS-COV-2 infection deserves further evaluations, particularly during the very early phase of the disease.Pulmonary hypertension (PH) is a disease characterized by an increase in the pulmonary vascular resistance that typically progresses to right heart failure and death. It is classified into five groups. Management depends on the group classification. Group four PH, chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension (CTEPH) is thought to be a result of acute pulmonary emboli that cause fibrosis and scarring of the pulmonary arteries with consequent obstruction. The diagnosis of CTEPH is made by identifying perfusion abnormalities on ventilation/perfusion (V/Q) scan. Other studies required for the diagnostic evaluation include transthoracic echocardiogram, right heart catheterization, NT pro-B-type natriuretic peptide and thrombophilia evaluation. Several other tests needed to exclude other causes of pulmonary hypertension include high-resolution computed tomography (HRCT), connective tissue disease evaluation, thyroid function testing, human immunodeficiency virus testing, and liver ultrasonography to exclude portal hypertension.
