Here, ML 210 investigated the effect of both castration and androgen replacement on spine plasticity in the nucleus accumbens shell and core (NAcSh and NAcC), caudate putamen (CPu), medial amygdala (MeA) and medial preoptic nucleus (MPN). Intact and castrated (gonadectomy [GDX]) male rats were treated with dihydrotestosterone (DHT, 1.5 mg) or vehicle (oil) in three experimental groups intact-oil, GDX-oil and GDX-DHT. Spine density and morphology, measured 24 hours after injection, were determined through three-dimensional reconstruction of confocal z-stacks of DiI-labelled dendritic segments. We found that GDX decreased spine density in the MPN, which was rescued by DHT treatment. DHT also increased spine density in the MeA in GDX animals compared to intact oil-treated animals. By contrast, DHT decreased spine density in the NAcSh compared to GDX males. No effect on spine density was observed in the NAcC or CPu. Spine length and spine head diameter were unaffected by GDX and DHT in the investigated brain regions. In addition, immunohistochemistry revealed that DHT treatment of GDX animals rapidly increased the number of cell bodies in the NAcSh positive for phosphorylated cAMP response-element binding protein, a downstream messenger of the androgen receptor. In this minireview, the different singularities that have been observed among lanthanide complexes are highlighted, the models used to rationalise them are detailed and how such electronic effects may be adjusted depending on energy and symmetry considerations is considered. We sought to understand the experiences of community integration among homeless-experienced veteran families. #link# We used a two-stage, community-partnered approach. First, we analysed 16 interviews with homeless-experienced veteran parents (parents who served in the military; n = 9) living in permanent housing and providers of homeless services (n = 7), conducted from February to September 2016, for themes of community integration. Second, we developed a workgroup of nine homeless-experienced veteran parents living in a permanent housing facility, who met four times from December 2016 to July 2017 to further understand community integration. We audio-recorded, transcribed and analysed the interviews and workgroups for community integration themes. For the analysis, we developed community integgration among homeless-experienced veteran families, including providing resources after obtaining housing, involving schools in facilitating social connections, and combating stigma. Binge-eating and purging behaviors commonly co-occur with overweight. However, little is known about the potential associations of elevated weight status with eating disorder severity or treatment outcomes. Thus, the present study compared binge-eating and purging patients with low, normal, and high weight statuses on eating disorder and mood symptoms at treatment admission, and tested whether weight status was associated with symptom change over treatment. The sample included 135 adult female patients in an intensive outpatient program, who completed self-assessments at admission and discharge. MANOVAs compared the groups at treatment admission, and multilevel models examined changes over time. At admission, the high-weight group reported greater fasting frequency than the normal-weight group, and higher shape and weight concerns than the low-weight group. Over time, the high-weight group additionally showed higher eating disorder psychological symptom severity than the normal-weight group. The groups did not differ on mood symptoms at admission. Longitudinal results indicated that the groups showed comparable symptom improvements over treatment. These findings highlight the severity of higher-weight patients with bulimia nervosa. Predementia is a heuristic umbrella concept to classify older adults with cognitive impairment who do not suffer dementia. Many diagnostic entities have been proposed to address this concept, but most of them have not had widespread acceptance. To review clinical definitions, epidemiologic data (prevalence, incidence) and rate of conversion to dementia of the main predementia constructs, with special interest in the two most frequently used mild cognitive impairment (MCI) and minor neurocognitive disorder (miNCD). We have selected in three databases (MEDLINE, Web of Science and Google scholar) the references from inception to 31 December 2019 of relevant reviews, population and community-based surveys, and clinical series with >500 participants and >3 years follow-up as the best source of evidence. The history of predementia constructs shows that MCI is the most referred entity. It is widely recognized as a clinical syndrome harbinger of dementia of several etiologies, mainly MCI due to Alzheimer's disease.
