Autonomic nervous system (ANS) activities during different types of stress could affect the electrocardiogram (ECG) signal. This study aimed to recognize the types of stress by using different ECG signals in order to prevent its actual physiologicaleffects on the heart signal. The ECG signal recorded by portable wrist bracelets from 20 students in during seven phases which incorporated three different types of stress and four relaxation phases. After different forms of windowing the signal, we used linear and non-linear features such as detrended fluctuation analysis (DFA), Poincaré plot, approximate and sample entropy, correlation dimension, and recurrence plot to extract various features of the heart rate variability (HRV). Then, different classifiers were used to identify the types of stress. The results showed a decrease in NN50, RMSSD, pNN50, and recurrence plot features, and an increase in the DFA method during stress stages, which show the effect of stress on heart rate. Atrial fibrillation increases the risk of stroke. While anticoagulation therapy can reduce the risk of stroke, it is associated with bleeding risk and often unsatisfactory prescribed. Most thrombi form in the left atrium appendage, hence left atrium appendage occlusion may be a suitable therapeutic alternative for these patients. This is an observational, retrospective, single-centre, case-series study including 30 patients with atrial fibrillation at a high risk of stroke, undergoing left atrial appendage occlusion from June 2015 to December 2018. The left atrial appendage was successfully closed in 29 (96.7 %) patients. Three months after the procedure, 4 patients had small leaks (< 2 mm). No complications were reported so far. Prior to the procedure, patients mostly received low molecular weight heparin (53.3 %). Three months after the procedure, patients mostly received acetylsalicylic acid (60.7 %) and clopidogrel (32.1 %). Left atrial appendage occlusion was shown to be an effective and safe alternative to anticoagulation therapy in patients with atrial fibrillation, at a high risk of stroke and bleeding. The procedure is safe, when performed carefully even by less experienced cardiologists (Tab. 6, Fig. 4, Ref. 29). The aim of our study is to investigate the effects of urotensin-II (U-II) on the left internal mammary artery (LIMA) wall and role of U-II in atherosclerotic processes affecting the long-term patency of LIMA. Patients were divided into 2 groups, namely Group I patients with coronary artery disease (CAD) and Group II DM + CAD. The patients were evaluated by Gencini scoring before coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG). Routine tissue follow-up, hemotoxylin-eosin staining and immunoreactivity with U-II were observed. Then, vessel damage score, H-Score and LIMA layer thickness were calculated and evaluated statistically. On light microscopic examination, the LIMA total damage score in DM + CAD group was significantly higher compared to the control group. The assessment of H score revealed that U-II was more intense in tunica intima and tunica media in the DM+CAD group as compared to the control group (p < 0.05). Furthermore, tunica intima and tunica media in the DM + CAD group were thicker than in the control group (p < 0.05). We found that U-II is effective in atherosclerotic processes of arterial grafts. The DM + CAD group has high U-II density with high total damage score in intima and media layers of LIMA. U-II may be effective in late survival results after CABG (Tab. 3, Fig. 2, Ref. 19).We found that U-II is effective in atherosclerotic processes of arterial grafts. To investigate the protective potential of resveratrol (RES) in blunt hepatic trauma (BHT) by exploring the anti-inflammatory and histopathologic effects as well as modulatory effects on hepatic biomarkers of acute injury, regeneration, apoptosis and survival in a rat model of BHT. A total of 21 Wistar Albino rats (weighing 120-250 g) were separated into 3 groups (n = 7 for each group), namely control group (CON; standard feeding), BHT group (BHT; blunt hepatic trauma plus observation) and trauma plus BES group (BHT-RES; blunt hepatic trauma plus intraperitoneal injection of 10 mg/kg RES). Serum levels for aspartate aminotransferase (AST), alanine aminotransferase (ALT), lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) and bilirubin were measured on Day 7 and rats were sacrificed for histopathological (inflammation scores) and immunohistochemical [expression of proliferation marker (Ki-67) and apoptosis-related markers (Bcl-2, and Bax)] analyses in resected liver tissue. The highest levels for serum AST (p = 0.002), ALT (p first time that RES exerts promising hepato-ameliorative effects against blunt hepatic injury as evidenced by decreased inflammation scores, parallel with improved hepatic histology, decreased serum transaminase activity as well as enhanced modulatory effect on regenerative and apoptotic processes in RES-treated rats subjected to experimentally-induced blunt hepatic trauma (Tab. 1, Fig. 1, Ref. 37).Obesity is a major health problem threatening humanity in medical, social and psychological dimensions. Nirogacestat In this study, we aimed to determine the histological, immunohistochemical and biochemical effects of bee bread, added to diets of obese rats in different doses, on leptin and ghrelin expression. In the study, 40 female Sprague‒Dawley (200‒250 g) rats were randomly divided into 5 equal groups and then assigned to control and obesity groups. The obesity group consisted of four subgroups high‑fat diet group, 100 and 200 mg/kg/bw groups, and metformin group. Histopathological evaluation revealed structural deterioration and necrotic areas in the epithelium and glands of the obese rats' stomach tissue, while in their serum and gastric tissues, the MDA level was significantly higher than in the other groups. There was a negative correlation between leptin and ghrelin levels. Apoptotic cells increased with obesity, but the application of beebread was similarly effective as metformin administration in reducing this increase (Tab.
