We hypothesized that the Endoscopic Surgical Skill Qualification System (ESSQS) can shorten operative time, resulting in a decrease in postoperative morbidity. Here, we aimed to clarify whether ESSQS-qualified surgeons could decrease the incidence of complications. Between January 2009 and June 2019, 1042 patients diagnosed with both clinical and pathological Stage ≤ III gastric cancer and undergoing LG were enrolled. In all LG procedures involving ESSQS-qualified surgeons, these served as the operator or the instructive assistant. The short-term outcomes were retrospectively compared between the ESSQS-qualified and the non-ESSQS-qualified surgeons using a propensity-score matched analysis. After propensity-score matching, 321 patients were included in each group. With recognition that these tumors harbor recurrent amplification of a novel oncogenic miRNA cluster on chr19, C19MC, ETMRs were designated as a distinct biological and molecular entity with a spectrum of histologic and clinical manifestations. Prediction of postoperative refraction following posterior lamellar keratoplasty is crucial for choosing proper intraocular lens power in combined surgeries. Femtosecond laser-assisted Descemet stripping endothelial keratoplasty (FS-DSEK) creates thin, planar grafts while microkeratome-assisted Descemet's stripping automated endothelial keratoplasty (DSAEK) creates non-planar, concaved grafts. We evaluated whether this fundamental difference affects the refractive outcomes in cataract surgery combined with FS-DSEK compared to cataract surgery combined with microkeratome-assisted DSAEK. A retrospective analysis of 28 patients who underwent FS-DSEK combined with phacoemulsification and intraocular lens (IOL) implantation (group A) compared to 26 patients who underwent microkeratome-assisted DSAEK combined with phacoemulsification and IOL implantation (group B). Pre- and 1-year postoperative best-corrected visual acuity (BCVA), keratometry values, corneal thickness, central-to-peripheral graft thickness ratibined with microkeratome-assisted DSAEK cause significant hyperopic shift. Since visual recovery in RRD depends on surgical treatment and, considering the personal, social and economic burden of low vision in the working-age population, our purpose was to analyze the features and outcomes of RRD in young patients. Clinical data of patients under 40years old submitted to surgery for first time RRD, consecutively selected between 2016 and 2019, was analyzed. Patients with less than 3months follow-up were excluded. Eighty-nine eyes from 89 patients were included. Mean age was 31.2 ± 7.8years (minimum 10years) and 56% were female gender. Most patients (63%) had high myopia. Piceatannol inhibitor Pars plana vitrectomy (79%) alone, combined with scleral buckling (1%) or scleral buckling alone (20%) was performed. Primary anatomical success was 72%, and final anatomical success was 91%. Final visual acuity of 20/40 or better was achieved in 29% of cases, but 28% remained under 20/400. The presence of myopia (p = 0.022), localized RRD (p = 0.007) and attached macula at presentation (p < 0.001) was associated with a better final visual acuity. Management of RRD in young patients must be thorough. In younger patients, anatomical outcomes may be worse than in older patients.
