The ClinicalTrials.gov database was searched for surgical/procedural trials in individuals with GBM. Demographics, specific intervention, trial phase, and main outcome measures were abstracted. A total of 224 of 2311 GBM trials (9.7%) were identified as procedural, with the majority being based in the United States (155/224, 69.2%), single-center (155/224, 69.2%), and not randomized (176/224, 78.6%). Primary and recurrent GBMs were evenly addressed. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effects of physical therapy on pulmonary function and respiratory muscle strength in children with cerebral palsy (CP). A search of 10 databases was conducted for this systematic review. Initially, there were no language, study design, or time frame restrictions. All studies assessing the effect of physical therapy on the respiratory system in children with CP were included. Two reviewers independently extracted and documented data. The extraction of the data included description of the intervention (duration, therapeutic method) and study results (change of spirometric parameters, respiratory muscle strength). The effects of physical therapist treatment were calculated using software. A total of 269 children aged 5 to 18years from 10 studies were included. To propose the first literature-based treatment algorithm on scrotal shunt migration. We conducted a literature search using the keywords "VP," "ventriculoperitoneal," "shunt," and "scrotum." We identified 36 publications with 48 cases reported including our index case. Median age at presentation was 13.5 mo (3 d to 65 yr) which was 4 mo (3 d to 72 mo) after last shunt-related surgery. All patients had scrotal swelling, 39 (81%) patients presented without other symptoms, 4 (8%) had additionally local pain, and 4 (8%) patients presented with symptoms of shunt dysfunction. Treatment was surgically in all but one case where spontaneous resolution without repeat migration occurred. In 3 of 4 patients who had either subcutaneous shortening or abdominal repositioning of the shunt without hernia repair, scrotal shunt migration recurred within the following month. Whereas the surgical treatment with reposition of the migrated catheter back into the peritoneal cavity via a groin incision plus hernia repair yielded a definite treatment in all 26 performed cases, the revision rate was significantly higher in the shunt revision without hernia repair cohort (P=.0009). We investigated the native properties of V. litorea plastids to understand how they withstand the rigors of photosynthesis in isolation. Transcription of specific genes in laboratory-isolated V. litorea plastids was monitored up to seven days. The involvement of plastid-encoded FtsH, a key plastid maintenance protease, in recovery from photoinhibition in V. litorea was estimated in cycloheximide-treated cells. In vitro comparison of V. litorea and spinach thylakoids was applied to investigate ROS formation in V. litorea. In comparison to other tested genes, the transcripts of ftsH and translation elongation factor EF-Tu (tufA) decreased slowly during incubation of isolated V. litorea plastids. Higher level of FtsH was also evident in cycloheximide-treated cells during recovery from photoinhibition.
