Lithium-sulfur (Li-S) battery is considered one of the possible alternatives for next-generation high energy batteries. However, its practical applications are still facing great challenges because of poor electronic conductivity, large volume change, and polysulfides dissolution inducing "shuttle reaction" for the S cathode. Many strategies have been explored to alleviate the aforementioned concerns. The most common approach is to embed S into carbonaceous matrix for constructing C-S composite cathodes. Herein, we fabricate the C-S cathode reduced graphene oxide-S (rGO-S) composites via one step hydrothermal and in-situ thermal reduction methods. The structural features and electrochemical properties in Li-S cells of the two type rGO-S composites are studied systematically. The rGO-S composites prepared by one step hydrothermal method (rGO-S-HT) show relatively better comprehensive performance as compared with the ones by in-situ thermal reduction method (rGO-S-T). For instance, with a current density of 100 mA g-1, the rGO-S-HT composite cathodes possess an initial capacity of 1290 mAh g-1 and simultaneously exhibit stable cycling capability. PF-00835231 In particular, as increasing the current density to 1.0 A g-1, the rGO-S-HT cathode retains a reversible capacity of 582 mAh g-1 even after 200 cycles. The enhanced electrochemical properties can be attributed to small S particles uniformly distributed on rGO sheets enabling to significantly improve the conductivity of S and effectively buffer large volume change during lithiation/delithiation. The aim of this study was to undertake a systematic review and meta-analysis of factors affecting the development of surgical site infection (SSI) in patients undergoing midline emergency laparotomy. An ethically approved, PROSPERO registered (ID CRD42020193246) meta-analysis and systematic review, searching PubMed, Scopus, Web of Science and Cochrane Library electronic databases from January 2015 to June 2020 and adhering to PRISMA guidelines was undertaken. Search headings included "emergency surgery", "laparotomy", "surgical site infection", "midline incision" and "wound bundle". Suitable publications were graded using Methodological Index for Non-Randomised Studies (MINORS); papers scoring ≥16/24 were included for data analysis. To ensure safety along the food chain, technologies that help to monitor and improve food preservation have emerged in a multidisciplinary context. These technologies focus on the detection and/or removal of either biological (e.g., bacteria, virus, etc.) or chemical (e.g., drugs and pesticides) safety hazards. Imprinted polymers are synthetic receptors able of recognizing both chemical and biological contaminants. While numerous reviews have focused on the use of these robust materials in extraction and separation applications, little bibliography summarizes the research that has been performed on their coupling to sensing platforms for food safety. The aim of this work is therefore to fill this gap and highlight the multidisciplinary aspects involved in the application of imprinting technology in the whole value chain ranging from IP preparation to integrated sensor systems for the specific recognition and quantification of chemical and microbiological contaminants in food samples.After completing the production of preserved eggs, traditionally, the degree of gelling is judged by allowing workers to tap the preserved eggs with their fingers and sense the resulting oscillations. The amount of oscillation is used for the quality classification. This traditional method produces varying results owing to the differences in the sensitivity of the individual workers, who are not objective. In this study, dielectric detection technology was used to classify the preserved eggs nondestructively. The impedance in the frequency range of 2-300 kHz was resolved into resistance and reactance, and was plotted on a Nyquist diagram. Next, the diagram curve was fitted in order to obtain the equivalent circuit, and the difference in the compositions of the equivalent circuits corresponding to gelled and non-gelled preserved eggs was analyzed. A preserved egg can be considered an RLC series circuit, and its decay rate is consistent with the decay rate given by mechanical vibration theory. The Nyquist diagrams for the resistance and reactance of preserved eggs clearly showed that the resistance and reactance of gelled and non-gelled eggs were quite different, and the classification of the eggs was performed using Bayesian network (BN). The results showed that a BN classifier with two variables, i.e., resistance and reactance, can be used to classify preserved eggs as gelled or non-gelled, with an accuracy of 81.0% and a kappa value of 0.62. Thus, a BN classifier based on resistance and reactance demonstrates the ability to classify the quality of preserved egg gel. This research provides a nondestructive method for the inspection of the quality of preserved egg gel, and provides a theoretical basis for the development of an automated preserved egg inspection system that can be used as the scientific basis for the determination of the quality of preserved eggs.
